Microtopping, sometimes called micro cement, is an ultra-thin polymer-cement coating troweled on by hand over your existing tiles, screed or stone. What you get is a smooth, joint-free floor with a bit of artisan character to it. Our trained applicators lay it across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, in villas, apartments, offices, restaurants, boutique hotels and shops.

The difference with our work comes down to two things that only show up after years in the UAE market: knowing the material and knowing how to apply it. No two floors come out identical. Because it's hand-troweled, you get subtle shifts in tone and an organic texture that a machine coating or a factory tile simply can't fake. We use European-grade micro cement systems and pair them with UV-resistant sealants chosen for the Gulf, so the color holds up year after year under sunlight that would have lesser products yellowing in months.

Our Microtopping Flooring Process

Step 1: Substrate Assessment
First we look hard at the floor you've already got. Using proper gauges and sounding tools, we check for cracks, hollow spots, moisture and any variation in level. Ground-floor slabs and anything near plumbing get tested for rising damp, which has to be dealt with before microcement goes anywhere near it. Then we write up the condition and scope out exactly what prep is needed.

Step 2: Surface Preparation
Cracks are routed out and filled with a flexible repair compound. Hollow or debonded tiles get re-fixed, or lifted and patched. The whole surface is then either mechanically abraded or primed with a bonding agent, because microcement needs a key to grip onto. Over tiled substrates there's an extra step: we embed a fibreglass mesh in the primer coat to bridge the grout lines, which stops them telegraphing through and showing in the finished floor.

Step 3: Color Selection and Sampling
This is the fun part. The palette is wide, industrial concrete greys, warm sand tones, deep charcoals, or a custom colour matched to your interior. We don't ask you to commit off a brochure, either. We make up physical sample boards in your chosen colour and finish, whether that's matte, satin or polished, so you can approve the real thing before we apply it across the room.

Step 4: Microcement Application
Our applicators hand-trowel two or three coats, letting each one cure, then sanding it before the next goes on. The texture and the tonal variation come entirely from the troweling, the pressure and the angle of the blade, which is what gives the floor its character. Edges, corners and the transitions to other surfaces are all detailed carefully, because that's where a rushed job gives itself away.

Step 5: Sealing and Protection
Once the final coat has fully cured, we roll on two coats of polyurethane or epoxy sealant to make the surface non-porous and stain-resistant. The sealant is UV-stable, which matters more here than anywhere, since cheap sealants yellow in Gulf sunlight and ruin the colour underneath. After that the floor takes light foot traffic at 48 hours and full use at 72.

When You Need Microtopping Flooring

Microtopping is at its best on a renovation where you want a big visual change but can't face the noise, the dust and the weeks of downtime that come with ripping a floor out. Villa owners across Arabian Ranches, Emirates Hills and Jumeirah use it on living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms to get that seamless modern look tiles can't match. Up in the high-rises, from Downtown to Dubai Marina, residents reach for it to refresh a dated floor without the headache of hauling demolition waste down from an upper floor. Regional Considerations

The UAE climate changes how microtopping has to be installed. In summer the heat speeds up the curing, which cuts the applicator's working time and can throw off the texture if it isn't handled right, so we schedule summer jobs for early morning or in a climate-controlled space. Moisture is the other watch-point. In ground-floor villas and podium-level retail units, rising damp from a poorly waterproofed slab will delaminate the floor over time, so we test the moisture levels properly and sort out any remediation before we start rather than after. UV is the third. Gulf sunlight is brutal on sealants, and an inferior one yellows within months and takes the colour with it, which is why we only use sealants with proven UV stability. For commercial spaces, everything we lay also meets the relevant fire-rating and slip-resistance standards.
