Generator Maintenance Services Solutions

Delight International Facilities Management delivers planned preventive maintenance, corrective repair, and emergency breakdown response for diesel and standby generators across the UAE. Our engineers are trained on the major OEM platforms including Cummins, Caterpillar (CAT), Perkins, FG Wilson, Kohler, Volvo Penta, Mitsubishi, Kubota, and Aksa, plus the controller and alternator brands that usually sit alongside them: Stamford, Leroy Somer, Mecc Alte, Deep Sea Electronics (DSE), ComAp, and DEIF.

We cover the full generator maintenance service spectrum: routine PPM visits, top-end overhauls, alternator rewinding, AVR replacement, ATS and AMF panel servicing, fuel system cleaning, coolant flushing, load-bank testing, and full site acceptance testing. Every visit is documented against a structured checklist and handed over as a written service report.

For facilities running standby gensets that are critical to business continuity, such as data centres, hospitals, hotels, factories, and high-rise residential, we set up AMC contracts that pair scheduled PPM with guaranteed emergency response. Book your generator maintenance with us today for a free site survey, a written PPM proposal, and 24/7 cover that protects your power continuity.

Our Generator Maintenance Process

Step 1: Site Audit & Asset Capture. Our engineer audits each generator on site: KVA rating, OEM, controller, alternator, control panel, ATS, fuel tank arrangement, exhaust, and canopy condition. Operating hours are read straight off the controller and a baseline service record is opened.

Step 2: Preventive Service (PPM). Scheduled PPM visits cover engine oil and oil-filter change, fuel-filter replacement, air-filter inspection, coolant top-up and conductivity check, battery test and electrolyte top-up, belt and hose inspection, and a visual check of the alternator, AVR, and exhaust silencer. Every finding is logged against the checklist.

Step 3: Functional & Load Testing. We start the generator, bring it to load, and watch for vibration, smoke, leaks, voltage stability, and frequency stability. Where it is needed, an external load bank is connected and the genset runs at 25, 50, 75, and 100 percent load to verify performance under demand and to burn off wet-stacking.

Step 4: Controller, ATS & AMF Verification. The controller is interrogated for fault codes and event history. ATS and AMF panels are tested for changeover sequencing, mains-failure detection, and start delay. AVR settings and synchronisation parameters, where they apply, are verified.

Step 5: Reporting, Recommendations & AMC Handover. A written service report goes out covering tasks completed, parts replaced, findings, photographs, and recommendations. For AMC clients, the report feeds straight into the next PPM cycle and any corrective work is scheduled.

When You Need Generator Maintenance

A generator is your insurance against mains-power failure, and that insurance is only valid if the unit has been maintained on schedule. For most diesel gensets, scheduled PPM is due every 250 operating hours or every six months, whichever comes first, with major service usually at 500 to 1,000 hours and a top-end overhaul at 6,000 to 8,000 hours.

Beyond the scheduled work, corrective and emergency intervention is needed when the genset will not start on mains failure, when alarms or fault codes show on the controller, when fuel quality has degraded (white smoke, black smoke, or rough running), when battery start-up gets unreliable, or after long idle periods that risk wet-stacking. Commissioning of new gensets, retrofitting older units with control-panel modernisation, emission control, or sound canopies, and load-bank testing for tenant or insurance handover are all common reasons to call a generator maintenance company in.

Regional Considerations

UAE conditions are hard on diesel gensets. Summer ambient temperatures of 45°C and above push cooling systems to their limit, which makes clean radiators and serviceable coolant far more important, and they speed up lube-oil degradation. Coastal humidity in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the Northern Emirates causes condensation in fuel tanks and water carry-over in diesel, so diesel-bug treatment and fuel polishing are routine here rather than rare.

Fine desert dust loads air filters faster than OEM intervals assume, so we adjust PPM intervals to local conditions instead of the book figure. UAE diesel grades and storage practices also shift how often fuel filters need changing. On the regulatory side, generator installations are coordinated with Dubai Municipality, DEWA, ADDC, Civil Defence, and the relevant emirate authorities, with emission, noise, and fuel-storage rules varying by zone.

Signs You Need Professional Generator Service

A generator is your insurance against mains-power failure, and that insurance is only valid if the unit is maintained on schedule. These are the clearest signs it is time to bring in a specialist engineer.

Generator Fails to Start on Mains Failure

A unit that fails to crank, take load, or trips out on start-up is typically signalling a battery, fuel, or controller issue. These faults are best diagnosed before the next outage, not discovered during one.

Black, White or Blue Exhaust Smoke

Persistent smoke points to fuel-injection issues, water in fuel, lube-oil burning, or irregular combustion. Catching the cause early keeps it from turning into expensive engine damage.

Repeated Alarms or Fault Codes on the Controller

Controllers like DSE, ComAp, and Datakom log faults: low oil pressure, high coolant temperature, charge-alternator failure, over-speed, and over-voltage. If the alarms keep coming back, the underlying fault has not actually been cleared.

Long Idle Periods Without Test Runs

Standby gensets that sit unloaded for weeks suffer wet-stacking, battery sulphation, and fuel degradation. Periodic load testing is what keeps them ready to run, so if your standby unit has not turned over in months, this is the reason to act now.

Benefits of Professional Generator Maintenance Services

A properly maintained generator protects your uptime, your capital equipment, and your compliance record — here is what a documented, specialist service delivers.

  1. Higher Standby Reliability

Scheduled PPM, battery testing, and fuel management raise the odds that the genset starts and carries load on demand. In a standby installation, that is the only metric that counts.

  2. Longer Engine & Alternator Life

Clean lube oil, serviced cooling systems, and tested alternators extend the life of capital equipment and push back expensive overhaul or replacement.

  3. Compliance & Insurance Readiness

PPM records, load-test certificates, and service reports are usually required for facility insurance, lender covenants, and authority inspections. We supply the documentation in the format you need.

  4. Predictable Operating Cost

An AMC contract turns reactive breakdown spend into a predictable annual budget, with priority response and discounted parts inside the contract scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should a generator be serviced?
Most diesel gensets need PPM every six months or every 250 operating hours, whichever comes first. Major service intervals fall at 500 to 1,000 hours and a full overhaul at 6,000 to 8,000 hours. An AMC contract schedules all of these in advance so nothing slips.
Which generator brands do you service?
We service all major diesel and standby generator platforms across engine, alternator, and controller types, covering the OEMs commonly installed across the UAE. If you tell us your make, model, and controller, we will confirm coverage and parts availability before we quote.
How do I choose a reliable generator maintenance company?
Look for OEM-trained engineers, documented PPM checklists, real load-bank testing rather than a quick run-up, and clear service reporting. A good generator maintenance service backs every visit with paperwork your insurer and auditors will accept, and offers an AMC with a guaranteed response SLA.
Do you offer a 24/7 emergency breakdown response?
Yes. AMC clients get priority response with a guaranteed SLA. Non-AMC sites are supported on a best-effort basis, subject to engineer availability.
What is included in a PPM visit?
Engine oil and filter change, fuel and air filter inspection, coolant check, battery test, belt and hose inspection, alternator and AVR inspection, controller fault-code review, ATS and AMF test, start-up and on-load observation, and a written service report.
What does a major service or overhaul include?
A major service covers all PPM items plus injector calibration, valve clearance, turbocharger inspection, fuel-pump check, and selective component replacement. A top-end overhaul replaces cylinder-head components, gaskets, and seals at OEM-specified intervals.
Can you upgrade older generators (control panels, emission, sound canopies)?
Yes. We retrofit modern DSE and ComAp controllers, upgrade ATS and AMF panels, fit emission-control kits, and replace or upgrade sound canopies where noise compliance is required.
